We packed everyone up on Friday and took them to the District Camporee in Carrolton Missouri, got them all settled in and bundled up. It was a wake up call for those who thought they were ready to go camping in the late fall, as temperatures got down to 32 degree during the night. But by the time breakfast was over, the temperatures were climbing and the boys got themselves assigned to a patrol and started taking part in the activities that were planned for he morning and into the afternoon. As a part of their requirements, the Webelos were required to plan and cook a meal. After planning everything out in advance, the Webelos, with some help, put together a big batch of Chili, fixed up Hot Dogs and feed not only themselves, the the Boy Scouts from Troop 286, whom we were camped with. After dinner, they took part in their first Boy Scout campfire, got involved in the night games that are common at camporee, then settled down for a thankfully warmer overnight. The Webelos of Pack 286 would like to thank the Scouts that attended the 2009 Big Muddy District Camporee for letting them take part in the event's activities, and the campfire that evening.

As a part of their Arrow of Light requirements, Webelos are required to go out on a Boy Scout Camping Trip and take part in the activities. We couldn't think of a better campout than the Big Muddy District Boy Scout Camporee. So we put it all together, worked out the details, and took our Webelos out with Troop 286.
